There are hundreds of thousands of charities, foundations and non-governmental organizations operating in the United States and almost as many different ways to give back to the communities where we live and work. From a personal perspective, we look to set examples for our children and make our world a better place, one selfless act at time. From a professional perspective, how does this personal effort crossover into the workplace and inspire our coworkers? What does philanthropy mean for corporations like CIT and how is the practice of giving incorporated into the daily flow of work?

Philanthropy means “focusing on the love of humanity.” In this way a person can care for, develop, or nourish his or her human potential. In modern times it has focused on the quality of life, and balancing a scientific-social area of our lives. It has further branched out into the business and government sectors, as generations have evolved.
Philanthropy means different things to different people. Some might consider donating money to a non-profit organization of their choosing or donating food or clothing to their nearest . Some might consider baking cookies for their next door neighbor is their contribution to philanthropy. All of these examples, in my eyes are forms of philanthropy. Before I started my internship at , I had a vague idea of what philanthropy really meant.Definition brought to you by Google. Philanthropy can mean a number of things to a number of different people. What does philanthropy mean to you?I am so excited to launch this new page, my philanthropy page. It is amazing to see all my efforts. Not to toot my own horn, but to show that anyone can make a big difference in other lives. What does philanthropy mean to you? To me it means giving back, helping your neighbors or supporting people in need. I know I am no Bill and Melinda Gates or Warren Buffet. But I am so proud of all the work I have done in this area.
